Gundam Products

Until 1998 no Gundam animation, and only a handful of spinoff items, had seen commercial release in the U.S. Now, in early 2000, we have a selection of videos and comics to choose from, and the model kits are starting to find their way into U.S. stores.

Publisher: Triumph Entertainment
A 128-page guide to the Gundam saga - the same deal as the PoJo's World Special Edition, except in book format.
The World of Mobile Suit Gundam
Publisher: Viz Communications
A 64-page special issue covering each Gundam series, the world background, and the universe of spin-off merchandise. Contributors include your Webmaster and mecha guru Benjamin Wright.
Gundam Wing
Publisher: H&S Media
A 128-page guide to the Gundam saga, with profiles and episode synopses for Gundam Wing, and essays on the Gundam series and model lineup from the experts of the Newtype Asylum Web site.

Gundam Novels and Comics
In tandem with Bandai Entertainment's video releases, Viz Communications and Mixx Entertainment are releasing comics based on the Gundam saga. A couple of previous Gundam publications, long out of print, may still be found in used book stores or in the musty archives of comic shops.
Domestic Novels
Gundam Mobile Suit
Publisher: Del Rey
Author: Yoshiyuki Tomino
Translator: Frederik L. Schodt
This three-volume novelization of the original Gundam series was published in English, under Ballantine Books's Del Rey imprint, from 1990 to 1991. Long out of print, these novels can still be found in used book stores. But beware - the story in the novels is drastically different from that of the animation

Mixx Manga
Mobile Suit Gundam: Blue Destiny
Publisher: Mixx Entertainment
Artist: Mizuho Takayama
Based on the Sega Saturn game of the same name, this comic was previously serialized in MixxZine (now Tokyo Pop).

Mobile Suit Gundam Wing
Publisher: Mixx Entertainment
Artist: Koichi Tokita
A comic adaptation of the Gundam Wing television series, originally serialized in Kodansha's Comic BomBom. Some issues also feature Tokita's "Go For It, Domon W" parody comics.

Part one of Kondo's faithful adaptation of the original Gundam story, serialized in eight monthly issues. Each issue includes a bonus "Universal Century Insider" column

Artist: Kazuhisa Kondo
Part two of Kondo's Gundam adaptation, serialized in five monthly issues. Each issue includes a bonus "All Around the Gundam" column.

Mobile Suit Gundam 0083
Publisher: Viz Communications
A "film comic" adaptation of the Gundam 0083 video series, using frames from the animation as comic strip panels. Thirteen issues were published from 1993 to 1994, each including a few pages of background information.

Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Ground Zero
Publisher: Viz Communications
Artist: Reku Fuyunagi
An original comic story, set between the end of the Gundam Wing television series and the start of Endless Waltz.
